TWRP for LG Destiny
« on: February 02, 2017, 04:21:41 pm »
Good afternoon .  Must have  TWRP  fully functional on a recently received  LG Destiny  GSM  fone.  This model is even smoother and cleaner in its overall look than our favorite U2 is.  Power and Volume Keys have been moved onto the Back Cover.  It HAS the look !   Now, how to put things like TWRP and Xposed onto the Destiny.  I've tried Flashing TWRP with Flashify and, for some unknown reason, will NOT work. Neither will Xposed. When you become a Developer, you're pretty much   f**ked and turned upside down.  Being a Pro doesn't seem to be doing me any bit of good here.  19 of 20  peeps WILL ive up and quit.  I can't do that - too many reasons. I'm getting rather burned up and reasonably burned out on this one. There's NO development on this model.

There is a reason why there is no development for the phone, mostly because many have tried to get something on it, but past lollipop it has been very difficult on LG TracFones to get any further then rooting it. The phone is already a year or so old, so newer phones will be the focus in the future. Wish I could help, but I don't have the phone anymore, nor do I have my Ubuntu working.

Here's a progress report for anyone with a  Destiny  or  Sunset .  Rooted via  KINGROOT . As far as  Xposed is concerned, it's a must to apply  GravityBox  for Lollipop (LP) .  Get the rite ARM file for your unit ( usually ARMv7 ) and use SDK21 as its platform and, it will install . However, for first generation Lollipop ( 5.0.1 )  it seems a bit limited in what I'm able to tweak in comparison to KitKat GB .  As far as TWRP,  that was a challenge. I used  2.8.7 like you did adapting the U2  but used the LG Leon as the focalpoint and,  it came up zippedy doo-dah !  So, I've got the foundation for some further Devs work. I'm of the belief that Lollipop will offer more tweaks per square inch than KK did. The CPU is a  Snapdragon MSM8916  quadcore unit.  I will NOT stand down until  CM12 is up and running full speed on this Destiny.  That one might be the proverbial ****

Ok, so are you saying that you got TWRP to work?

Well, how did you do it for the U2  ?  You probably recompiled the code specific to the U2 and, it was probably a snap for someone who's comfortable with Open Source as y'all are . Needs to be Bumped and, once again, something that nobody here save yourself knows **** about .  I've never once compiled Code in my life and, as expected, seems to be unstable.  Everything about Lollipop Security parameters seems to be slightly increased. Was expecting a walk in the park -  pretty much got mugged. Doing the Destiny's  TWRP  from scratch is NOT  recommended.  Hasn't hit the Web ( yet )  on how to do it. That's as prototypic as it gets, Jack !  You don't get lucky Flashing the MetroPCS  Leon  version -  I'll bet serious money that it won't load. I'm in  No Man's Land and, I'm very uncomfortable here.  It's a ticking time bomb. Literally !  How do you do it being a Dev  ?

The U2 wasn't as locked down as the L22C/L35G is. I have tried flashing thr Leon version and I get nothing sadly.

It's my understanding that, if you change ONE line of Code ( to reflect the correct c50 file )  which, in my case, is   twrp 2.8.7.0  c50.img    and, copy it into your Destiny's Internal Storage rather than just setting in a Downloads folder . It appears as if Bumping is similar to having a legit Digital signature to pass the test.  Theoretically,  a pre-Bumped  TWRP  file flashed with  Flashify  SHOULD  install and load correctly.  I'll bet serious  $  that it won't !   Like you said ( would've expected the opposite )  it appears that Lillipop 5.0.1  has tightened up its internal security bootstraps and run a much tighter ship. Oh, Damn !  Like some fool said ,  normal people don't play with locked Bootloaders.  Well, Ryan, looks as if I'm a bit abnormal.  Using GravityBox on APK21 isn't nearly as productive in its entirety as KitKat was . Kinda odd, isn't it ?  This **** is supposed to be Open Sourced . Aww, Hell !  I'll be chasing this one for awhile.  And, I'm pessimistic. Unusual .

Comes as no surprise as to why there are only a few really heads-up, solid Members here - this is Rocket Science and, we're here in the Cloud, Ryan.  Have you taken time to scan the XDA thread on how to fully compile TWRP specifically for your model ? They tell you in a very low profile kinda way that, if you're not Linux oriented, you're gonna drop like a fly on a flyswatter . I've got Creds out the Yin-Yang but, doing this in a materialistic, productive way you'll need to be on a very good day with Karma shining down on you .  Editing a BoardConfig.mk   file is something I haven't done recently.  Hilarious how XDA makes this one sound easy. Just for ****/giggles, I did try and flash an unBumped, unsigned  TWRP 2.8.7.0  c50. img  ( original )  with Flashify and,  it ganked and gives me a Boot certification verify Error on Bootup that deletes in 2-3 secs .  The Error codes are random and change on every boot. This is a sad testimonial to doing Dev work .  Eventually, you'll have to accept the fact that the LG you're using is, pretty much a Guinea Pig and a better word is  Testing .  You have to accept that the unit will eventually crash and burn.  I do the opposite -  I fix **** to work again.
