Title: Stock Recovery AWOL
Post by: Killswitch on November 13, 2016, 07:06:31 pm
Hey, Ryan -  got an interesting yet frustrating issue that ties to the Stock Recovery on the LG L41C .
Got a replacement unit and, funny what a CET (certified electronics tech)  does as a first reaction after becoming a BrickLayer.  The first thing I checked on this refurbished U2 was to see if the Stock Recovery was punctual and on time.  Discovered that I would get it to show up apprx. 5% of the time. And yes, Ryan , I DO know how to negotiate the switches to bring Recovery to the display.  Out of twenty (20) tries, I got this miserable unit to show it once from Power Off.  Absolutely incredible Quality Control. I've even flashed another stock recovery from this site and, you'll get a momentary blank screen before it boots up into System.  Both TWRP and CWM can be accessed from Flashify in a consistent manner as long as it's powered up.  I've come to the undeniable conclusion that the partition that holds the Stock Recovery is corrupted.  WTF is up with that ?  No exaggeration - getting to see the Stock Recovery is a rare site even if you yank the battery out as I've seen you do from time to time on your Vids.  This is hard to believe !  I've gotta have that stock recovery working from Power Off.  Tracfones predictably Brick with the blink of an eye. These units are tied down so tightly that they will NEVER work in a predictable manner.  And, since you seem to be the point of expertise with L41C's , how often have you seen this glitch ?  As you already know, most owners do NOT know how to access Recovery.  I do and, this is beyond words.  It IS there but is locked inside the proverbial closet. Seldom seen in the very real world.  If it ain't the partition, maybe you know what else it might be. I'm a Pro and, that's my conclusion. Get back to me at your convenience and, by all means, have a very nice day.

I have never seen the stock recovery before, only the factory reset screen. If you have TWRP installed you will be OK as you can get into it from power off. I am not sure if this answered your question.

Yea, RC - that's what I'm referring to . I've read all about this issue with TWRP and, I'm doubtful that it really can get to open from the Power Off mode.  It didn't work with CWM or Phils  either.  Do ya have a way to do a Remote Control with TeamViewer or anything else ?  This is slowly becoming more of a hassle than anything else.  When kids tell me that their toddlers wouldn't be able to Brick this phone, I can't hang here very much longer. That's a sad testimonial to the Tech end of this dilemma .

And, here are some statistics .  Out of fifty (50) attempts at powering up with every variable thrown in on how to sequence the pause on the second push after you see the logo, I was able to get that Factory Reset screen three (3) times.  That might be some of the most freakazoid stuff I've seen in a very long time. That's a 6%  success story.  That's almost homosexual !   And, after a successful powerup, I duplicated the sequence and, it wouldn't repeat like the time before.  Totally darkside !  I'm wondering if Tracfones can be JTAGged when they get refurbished ?  Gotta be more companies doing this besides Samsung .  They probably all do it quietly.

The thing is it's not to be done quickly, the power+vol down until its turns on, then release for 1 second after you see the logo the press again. Also take a look at some of the videos for the LG L70, they have the same way of entering the factory reset mode.
