Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime / Re: Anyone got Root working on this thing yet?
« Last post by coppyhop on January 06, 2018, 04:43:33 am »
Okay so I finally got the Odin flashables to work. You SHOULD NOT enable the factory reset protection, if you have it enabled, it will not work. In order to flash using odin you have to factory reset, sign into your samsung account, and then uncheck the protection.

I haven't been able to get mine rooted yet, however I could give you the APN settings from mine if you think it'd work. EDIT: Quick question, can you go to settings > About > Baseband Version and tell me what it says? I get unknown when I query it.

Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime / APN Settings for Custom ROMs?
« Last post by Haruo on December 29, 2017, 01:47:59 am »
Hey again guys and @rcunningham,

I've been on and off with tinkering in general due to busyness, but when I'm asked for help, I jump on the case...

Does anyone have a compilation of working APN settings that we can use for TracFone devices? When I flash some ROMs on XDA for this device (gprimeltetfnvzw), my SIM card isn't detected and data isn't working.

Alternatively, if anyone uses those unofficial LineageOS ROMs over on XDA, if you got it all to work, how did you do it?

thanks for the reply rcunningham, and thanks for the awesome work you have done for this phone.

I was afraid that would be the case, and Im afraid you are right. :)

I will tell you what though, I will try to somehow figure something out even though the time invested might be worth more.

If I somehow am successful I will definitely report back and try to contribute in case anybody else finds themselves in the same boat.

thanks again.

You won't be able to fix the phone if you can't get into fastboot and flash a recovery. The Ultimate 2 doesn't have download mode so a kdz file is useless, but if I remember I have one somewhere on my PC when flashing the realm stock images.

I feel like you might be better off just buying a new phone then try to fix it. They go for about $15 on eBay.

my apologies for doublepost/incorrect section (if a mod wants to move this to bricked phone section)

found this shortly after posting this
http://tracfonedevs.createaforum.com/bricked-phone-support/lg-ultimate-2-%28l41c%29-bricked-153/

seems like a witch hunt to look for any kdz or tot for the ultimate 2 I take it?

I was imagining it could be made with the stock .img

also, is there really no way to flash a stock .img without the prerequisite app already on the phone?

well that topic brings up another question.

could I use a realm kdz or tot for the ultimate 2?
I looked at the hardware data  for both and didnt notice any differences, the phone looks identical even.. but Im not that familiar with how sensitive that would be.

LG Ultimate 2 / LG Ultimate 2 Rescue? (help)
« Last post by Sharp on December 26, 2017, 02:37:56 pm »
Greetings everyone and happy holidays

I am hoping for some helpful advice in reference to my bricked Ultimate 2.

I will try to recollect the phones history, but if you dont have time to read that feel free to skip to the end to get the just of the matter.

So about a year ago my LG Ultimate 2 starting acting messed up.
Would randomly turn off. then it started to bootloop.

When it started to bootloop I did a factory reset, wiped everything, went through and set a password. it worked fine for a week or so.

THEN I dropped it, after dropping it, it truly bricked it.
Although that didnt discourage me, for some reason I knew the phone should still be working.

After taking it apart multiple times, I managed to re-flow the SMD circuit in a special way. After flowing the board, life returned to it! :D

Although, after getting the power button to turn the screen/home LED on reliably, the screen read "Security boot error" and repeatedly tried to boot to the error.

I found rccunninghams recovery tool, tried to use that, but I never could get it to work. probably because I cant actually go into my phones menu.

A few times I got it to boot without the error, but the tracfone boot image would just start flashing randomly while trying to boot.

I left it like that, plugged into the computer, hoping it would make it through the tracfone boot image/show up in devices in recoverytool if I was patient.

I came back and the phone was a brick again, nothing from power button. but the computer recognizes it. as "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008"

From the information Ive found, I need a .KDZ or .TOT?

or is there a way to flash an .img using a tool on computer without any app on phone? (fwiw iirc I had turned fastboot on in phone before the booterror)

I got to where It seemed like boarddiag would work, but boarddiag asks for a "partition.txt" and the boarddiag I downloaded only came with a support folder for a different phone (G2).
So it seems like if I am going to use boarddiag, I need a folder of files in relation to my phone.

anyway, any guidance is appreciated. thanks in advance.

A few people have been asking me how to do this, so I thought it would be best to post a guide on how to do this.

1. Turn phone off and remove battery, then put it back in after waiting a few seconds.
2. Press and hold the down volume and the power/lock key. The LG logo will appear. Release the power/lock key, then immediately press and hold the power/lock key again. This will take a few tries to get it right.
3. Release all the keys once you see the factory reset screen come up.
4. Use the down volume button to select “YES”. Press the power/lock key to confirm.
5. Wait a few moments until the phone boots into recovery or resets itself if no recovery is installed.

I have used this method multiple times, and it's never failed. Don't worry if you don't get into the recovery screen the first time, it took me at least 10 tries to get the timing right the first time I did it. Good luck :)

Kingo Root doesn't work. Looks like I have no way of rooting this.  :D Oh well, not much lost I suppose.

As stated before, KingRoot doesn't work, it says it is not yet available for this device. I will try KingoRoot however and report back.
