enabling download mode
« on: November 20, 2016, 11:03:24 pm »
Hi. im new to this site and would like to thank everyone for their contributions. it seems that download mode (.laf partition) and perhaps also the recovery mode have been disabled by tracfone (or at least by straight talk) on all the LGL22C phones i have encountered. i was wondering if anyone knew a way to reenable or access either of thode bootmodes. Is it something obvious im missing [and yes i have done all the standard measures for entering download mode on other LGs and I also acquired a LG service cables (901k resistor - 130k resistor - 56k resistor) and a LG UART (microusb to RJ45 or Ethernet or cat5 whaterver) and a serial converter. none of these measures caused the phone to boot the .laf partition the it does appear to have a .laf partition. Any help?

Additionally can anyone tell me how to activate or utilize the serial port (i mean like qualcom usb mode you can access thru the hidden menu dialer codes on non TF phones.  this phone doesnt have dialer codes enabled nor a hidden menu we can enable correct?

I attempted to install the hidden menu for other LEON variants but even with POWER rooted i can get RW remount to stick on the system partition so i can make the hidden menu.apks ive installed system apps (and a million other fustrations) so again Any Help?

Thanx again

There is no download mode, nor is there a known way to access it. This goes for all modern TracFone devices I know of.

Interesting. I'm like Ryan and started into the Android Kiddy Pool with the LG Ultimate2 .  Like yourself, I want to enable Download Mode so that I can literally begin to understand the mechanics of the LG Flash Tool for doing Hard Bricks. I'm jonesed to see if I can resurrect an LG from scratch , and in the case of the LG Realm (big brother of the Ultimate2) I'm wondering if I can flash its KDZ into the Ultimate2 inside LG Flash Tool and revive it ?  They're both w5c's but, Tracfone are like children with how difficult they make it for their clients to expand our horizons.  They're isn't going to be a lot of variation in how the Realm's partitions are packed and how the U2 is packed.  It might actually work. Somebody on androidforum said that it does work. Oh, damn !  That would be a major rush.

We have even gone so far as to flash 2 Realm partitions believed to be connected to download mode. It did not work, if there was a way to flash a KDZ without download mode there might be a possibility we would get it. I wouldn't trust the people on AF, few have any TracFone specific knowledge. It's very possible it could work, not saying there is a straightforward way to do it.

Oh, **** - you mean to tell me that you've fed and flashed Realm partitions into the U2 and, it didn't motivate it enuf to come alive ?  Damn, Sam - I'm ready to bet $20. and give 2-1 odds that, stacked correctly, it WILL break free and become a REAL  w5c  !   It seems to be no problem to do Identity Transfer between the Realm and the Optimus Exceed2.  And,at that point, you go heads-up with Father Guido or Dodson for direction.  Either one of those two must've gotten a way to get CM11.1 close to fully functional on the U2.  Hell, I put somebody's CM11.1 onto my U2 and yea, it did boot but was otherwise fully dysfunctional.  Just like you, I won't stop until CM11.1 is the foundation of my U2. I've seen what that ROM is capable of and, it's beyond the words stage.  If you're familiar with JTAGging, I'm from USBJTAG.com and, I'd even bet that there's a way to reprogram that boy to become a man . This is even better than being able to reactivate certain older Cable boxes.  I've just gotta have CM11.1 on my U2.  No ifs, ands or butts. Gotta have it.

Yea, the U2 is a very unmotivated device. I will see what I can do.
