CM12 Development Progress
« on: June 30, 2015, 10:06:14 pm »
Ok, so a lot of people have asked me about CyanogenMod 12 for the LG Ultimate 2. I will explain it all to you.

UPDATE 12:
Project put on hold. Due to multiple unsolvable issues, It's not done for, rather just put off. If anyone is interested in picking it up please PM me.

UPDATE 11:
Success! I got CM12.1 booting (kinda) on the L41C! All that hard work and time payed off! To bad I can't use it because of my screen. Here is the link to the thread where you can try it yourself: http://tracfonedevs.createaforum.com/lg-ultimate-2/unofficial-cm12-1-for-the-lg-ultimate-2/

UPDATE 10:
I am gonna try to compile a few builds and see how it goes, I just **** my LG L41C and most of the screen is messed up except for a little bit on the top. The whole touchscreen still works, but its black.

UUPDATE 9:
I am downloading the source code for CM12.1. It is like 12 GB and my internet is slow.

UPDATE 8:
I decided that CM12.1 would be easier since there is more content on it. I setup a new PC just for development and I am gonna try CM12.1.

UPDATE 7:
I am gonna try to port the new CM13 by hand. AOKP KitKat will be released very soon.

UPDATE 6:
I have decided to cancel the source download and try to build a kernel first. And its not worth downloading lollipop source when Marshmallow in not far away.

UPDATE 5:
Source code is being downloaded so Lollipop will be seen in the close future.

UPDATE 4:
A laptop has been bought just for development so in the future we will be able to build Lollipop for the L41C.

UPDATE 3:
MiUI has been updated and a list of bugs have been fixed. CyanogenMod is still in the works but is not more than 5 months away. The calling and SMS still  need to be fixed in MiUI and CM.

UPDATE 2:
Wi-Fi has been fixed for CM11 and a update for MiUI with working Wi-Fi should be released soon. The Internal storage has also been fixed allowing more stuff to work and less force closes.

UPDATE:
We have got CM11 to boot with a working touchscreen. But basically everything else does not work. CM12 goes only to the CM logo and hangs there so that might be a little while.

Original Post:
edodson84 has got CM11 booting, but no touchscreen inputs are registered in the phone. That is the same for every other ROM ported from the LG L70. There is a boot.img that has a working touchscreen, but you can't see the screen.

If you have any questions please drop a comment here. Thanks for understanding.

edodson84 and I have got CM11 and MiUI V5 to boot with a working touchscreen. Basically everything is not working so its more a proof of concept thing.

As for Lollipop I have got it to boot but with no touchscreen. You won't see Lollipop anywhere in the near future.

I will be releasing MiUI or Carbon ROM for users to test it out.

On the other hand edodson84 will be taking care of CM11. You should thank him because he found a way to get the touchscreen to work. He has spent at least a month to get it to work.

Also both me and edodson84 have tested out the ROMs so ya don't have to worry about a bricked phone.

There is still a lot of work to be done, but in the end we may see a stable CM11 or CM12.

All we need is some time.

Ryan, I was just thinking what if we could use the touchscreen and cellular files from the stock 4.4.2 rom for the ultimate 2 for the other roms that don't have working touchscreens and cellular networks? Wouldn't they work then?

We already have a working touchscreen so I don't need to worry about that. It's possible to get everything working but the issue is it won't repack the files. If it did we would have a fully working CM and MiUI. I have a fix for the WiFi so you might see a MiUI ROM with working sound and WiFi in a day or so.

What happens ismit repacks but all the changes I made don't show. It's just the same boot.img we had before. It used to let me before but know it won't. At least I got all the important stuff for the G3 ROM done before it quit on me.

We haven't made to much progress in the past few weeks, but I am sure you will see some very soon.

there is an official cm13 rom for the lg l70, which is basicly the same phone. I tried flashing it on my phone and it refused to flash, but it might just take a little modification to work. link: https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=w5

We have tried and that has not work, it's quite a bit more than a little bit of modification like all the Kit Kat roms sadly

I suppose life is full of dissapointments  :-[, but It would probobly be at least a little easier than porting it from the cm source. Well, keep up the good work, and I hope someone can get some non-stock based one working on it someday

Indeed it is, unfortunately. It's about 10000000 times easier than building from source. We have successfully ported KitKat ROMs using one method, but we have no idea why the same method won't work for Lollipop and MM. Me too, I would love to have someone else do it so I don't have to lel
