OEM Mode for U2
« on: January 28, 2017, 08:32:30 pm »
Hey, Ryan !  Just wanted to share this with ya in the event that you didn't already know.  In doing Development toward the LG Destiny,  I came across a Hidden Menu that might be the equivalent of candy for Developers like us.  And, coincidentally, is also hidden on the U2.  Go to a  Dialpad and  enter  *#*#759#*#*   and see what happens.  At the bottom is the  OEM Mode  option .  If ya turn it on, does it provide the easiest way to unlock the persistent Tracfone  Bootloader  ?   I can only assume this might not be needed with your  G3 because it's probably already Bumped .  This is hard core even for me. I won't even Test this opportunity because my U2 is now so  " trick "  that I won't even take the chance and Test it out.   Funny -  RLz Debug UI system   hidden menu.  It IS there and easily unhidden . Its parameters are for Yours Truly . I'm as Tech as it gets and, this is slightly beyond me. Probably up your alley.  Please check that out and get back to me.

Thank you for sharing! I took a look on my G4 and it appears to have the same function, I attached a screenshot of it. I will take a closer look on my U2 when I get home this weekend.

Yea, this is an LG  Parameter of which, if it weren't a Tracfone,  would apparently be a prerequisite for unlocking your Bootloader.  Funny how this one goes -  even the peeps that know about it don't really know what the term  OEM Mode  means. I would think that, on normalized LG models on normalized carriers, you turn that  ON  and, you're past that sophisticated Unlock code that creates logistical nightmares from thin air . At that point, you're logistically Unlocked .  But, not with Tracfone. Gotta be one of the more freakazoid Telecommunications companies I've ever seen go past me. If you have any tidbits on how to install TWRP onto an LGDestiny,  please feedback cause there's virtually no starting point for me to begin at. Most of the peeps here don't realize what it's like to do Dev work . None - it would scare them away .

Correct. TracFone makes it VERY hard to do anything past use the basic functions of the phone.

I will try to look into TWRP for the Destiny tonight, but if I remember correctly it's like the LG Power, impossible to unlock.

It's remotely possible that, turning that switch  ON  might possibly allow you to use Download Mode IF you can supply the Code for it.  Having Download Mode isn't critical once you haver TWRP but, still a smooth option .  As far as Destiny is concerned, I'm betting that, if ya write a variant for 2.8.7  for an LG Leon, you should be in . Somebody gave me a Lucky and, tried putting your  U2  version 2  on it and, quickly ganked that Lucky !  It even deauthorized the ADB bridge. No **** !  Tried an AOKP Boot Animation and well, you know the rest .  These fones are an amazing challenge !

Well the U2 ROM isn't meant to run on anything but the Ultimate 2. I will see what I can do for the Destiny. I have the LG Power, which is similar, so somthing common might work on em.

What I meant to say was that I tried putting the U2's  2.8.7  TWRP on the Lucky and,  Flashify will flash it but it didn't work. I thought that, since the Lucky was KitKat that it might work.  No such way !  By the way, there's a new OS that has surfaced over in Europe and it's called  LINEAGE os .  Yes, it does have a variant for the W5.  Check it out, I'm sure you're always looking to get the drop on a new and tasty OS that can be rewritten to include the Ultimate2 .  This looks to be aserious successor to the CM fame enjoyed recently.  I'd bet serious money that you'll be able to  " morph "  their stable ( nightly ) file available at their site. Called  LINEAGE  os.  Maybe you haven't heard of it. Brand spanking new .

The devices are very different, just because they both run KK doesn't mean that TWRP will work, it's actually not a factor. It's the processor and the bootloader that matter.

I will take a look at the OS. Might be able to port it.
