Ryan, currently using ulta_lolli. Is there any other roms for the u2 to play with while we patiently wait for g3 2.4?
Everything in terms of ROMs can be found here: http://tracfonedevs.createaforum.com/lg-ultimate-2/lg-ultimate-2-everything-root/

Is there an experimental build we can try out? I never use GApps anyway :)
Kinda, but it's not where I would like it to be for testing, but I can try to post something.

Hello all, I am postponing the release because I have not been able to get the gapps to correctly update. It should be released within the next few weeks, as I am very busy with other stuff. I am very sorry about this.
-
You're welcome. Anybody with an unmotivated, stifled Tracfone like the 41C should have the opportunity to put Ryan's G3 into place to witness the excellence of execution on his part. This ROM is almost the equivalent of a Hong Kong pin-fitted Suit made by a tailor. He laid it into place tremendously well. Would've liked to have seen the expression on his face after doing his last revision .
Well, I am glad this worked. I am typically in favour of the stripped down builds that the Trac Family puts on their phones as it is less bloat than what the big cellular companies carry.
So far, I have been very impressed with the speed. This seems to be much quicker than the Ulti_Lolli ROM. The interface is very nice.
The only thing that I have noticed that isn't a deal breaker, but would be nice to have back is the notification light. The light works when I am in looking at the settings, though it is very low, but during use it does not blink after a message or reminder comes up.
Apart from that, I do appreciate that the speaker does seems to be louder than the stock and Ulti_Lolli.
Great work Ryan!

Well, you were spot on. Thank you. I was able to get the ROM loaded and now I am blazing away. So far it looks beautiful. I look forward to getting it personalized for my use.

Yea, dude - you're burning up ! Spontaneous combustion personnified ! I just hadda get that in there. Back to business - the size of this masterpiece ( no exaggeration ) is about 2.2GB . Go into Advanced Wipe and do Dalvik, Data and Cache and then Install, you shouldn't get that IF you put the DL onto an SD card. Ryan's ROM is almost foolproof. It takes my U2 a little over three (3) minutes to install. Afterwards, wipe Dalvik and Cache again and, zippedy doo-dah ! You're in ! Takes only a couple of minutes wait time on initial Bootup. Don't wipe System or either internal/external memory. You should be on time, but, you're probably on fire ! I can smell the smoke back here in Phila PA . Try it again and, get back to us. And, have a Goodday !

Hello,
I have been following this thread and I really like what I have been reading.
I am currently on Ulti_Lolli_V2.1 and I would love to try this LG G3 Rom but I am having an issue installing.
I am running TWRP v.2.8.7.0 and when I follow your install instructions the wipe goes well, but when I select Install and select the Zip file it returns the error of "Error executing updater binary in zip "external_sd/G3-ROM-Port-2-3.zip"
Can you give me any pointers or verify that the file itself hasn't become corrupt? I was able to open the zip itself in Windows just to make sure that it had content.
Thanks!

Also is there any reason why the smart bulletin doesn't work? I've been trying to figure that out for a couple days.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't work because I forgot to include a lib file or something in the lge-res.apk. I'm not completely sure. I will look into fixing that sometime.

Hey man you still planning on dropping that 2.4 update today? This is the best rom I've seen for this phone or any LG phone at that. I'm really looking forward to that 3.0 update as well. Keep up the good work and thanks for the time you've put into all the development. I love your work dude.

I am not sure, I might if I can get time in the future. There are a number of challenges that have prevented me from being able to complete the ROM. Thanks for the feedback!

Have this running great on my Optimus Exceed 2😀. Love it. Couple of issues in the settings, but I came up with a workaround. Thanks for this ROM!

First of all, Awesome ROM! I've noticed a couple issues however, in the Display Tab in Settings, the Screen settings option gives me the "Unfortunately Settings have Stopped" error. Also, when I reboot, the screen is set to %100 Brightness. Other than those issues, it is a fantastic ROM, it kind of reminds me of the LG Lucky/Sunrise in a way. Great work!
Glad you like it! Did you read the entire post before using the settings?

WOW! This ROM is truly impressive.
I really hated the stock ROM that came with the Ultimate 2 ... I tried using Xposed and alternative Launchers to try to make it prettier, which significantly affected battery life and some stability.
I am pleased to say that this ROM really turned my opinion of this phone around, even if most of it was just that it was ugly and customization limited.
Installation went seamlessly, with special thanks to Flashify and Towelroot, even for a semi dirty flash (the only wipe I did was davlik and cache, not a complete wipe and reinstall). All my apps, data, account info, etc. remained in tact and minus a couple of Google Play Store and Google Services crashes at the very beginning, VERY stable.
The only issue I have come across is in the display settings when trying to access "Screen Mode' and "Screen-Off Effect" which is FAR from a disability in any way as far as I can tell.
Just wanted to say kudos and note what a fantastic ROM this is for a mid level tracfone. I'm not even worried about the fact that the Development has halted for this phone because I'm not sure how much this ROM could be improved.
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I am glad you liked it :) if I ever get the phone again I will try to fix those bugs.

if you put exposed installar on the phone, you can download gravity box KK and change those settings

Sad to hear about your phone being messed up. But for now the 2.3 version will do. All little bugs aside, it rocks. I went back to the Ultalolli rom for like a week but I came back to this one, it just feels and looks good, and it works. Your rom breathed new life into a phone I was getting quite sick of lol
-
Just flashed this rom, looks pretty good. I like the smaller/cleaner looking notification shade of the LG stuff. Two things bother me. First, why does long pressing the home button need to also open recents? Already have that when long pressing the menu button. Second, and this problem seems to persist on all the ROMs I've tried. Is there anyway to stop the long press of volume buttons from opening the camera? I've tried several apps to turn this "feature" off, but none seem to be able to stop this when the phone is locked. I thought the G3 phone had a setting to disable this, so I was hoping this G3 rom would have included it. Otherwise looks nice and all. Thanks.
The reason for the recents thing is because of a Google Now update, and the LG G3 doesn't have a option to turn off it. I actually have a friend with a LG G3 so I used it to see how it works. There isn't a option for it. I might add a option in the settings for the next version if I get a new L41C.

Hey! Im back
Sorry I couldn't get back earlier but i just received my g3 in the mail and my brother got the l41c. I also had to set it up.
Btw i solved my pc problem by getting kali linux via Linux deploy and a bluetooth keyboard. Anyway, is this possible on the g3 rom? Doesc it have a kernel that supports boot devices and vm?
Thanks.
What exactly are you asking?

Ryan:
This is tech info that might help you know if the LG Ultimate 2 could mirror
(Straight from Google)
* The WiFi radio must support WiFi P2P.
* The WiFi radio must support concurrent connections to the WiFi display and to an access point.
* The Audio Flinger audio_policy.conf file must specify a rule for the "r_submix" remote submix module. This module is used to record and stream system audio output to the WiFi display encoder in the media server.
* The remote submix module "audio.r_submix.default" must be installed on the device.
* The device must be provisioned with HDCP keys (for protected content).
What do you think?
Al
Thanks I will take a look

Got chromecast and it works on LG G3 ROM except for only casting ( mirroring the screen ). I tried different versions of #mirrorEnabler ( solved problems on other roms ) but it starts and then screen quickly closes. Not even a glimpse of the casted screen just black. Maybe related to the fact that there is no casting option on phone under settings --> display
Any other thoughts.??
AL
Never actually used the Chromecast thing much before. I used it to mirror my screen once, I really have no idea how I did it. I only did it because my new phone supported it so I wanted to try it out. I can't really help you on this one.

Does anyone know if this phone with LG G3 rom can output to tv using HDMI cable? If so, is it slimport or MHL standard so I can get the correct cable. I'm interested in using a wired connection not wireless. If not are there any other options?
Thanks,
Al
Yes. It's enabled in the build.prop. You need to buy an adapter to get it to work. Then connect the HDMI cable to the adapter and plug it into the TV.

If you are trying to uninstall unwanted system apps or bloatware like all that google crap, search the play store or on google for apps that delete system apps (root access needed). The one I used will tell you whether or not it is required for the phone to function and it worked perfectly.
-
No luck from root, data folder, still reboots when uninstall is attempted.

Here is the post I was thinking about. "Sorry everyone, I have to delay this one last day. I uploaded the G3 ROM v2.2S instead of the normal 2.2. The S version is for the LG VS450PP. I am uploading the 2.2 version right now."
I'm just happy that 2.3 installed OK and works really well.
Thanks again.

If I get time I will release a update.zip that allows the G3 ROM to work on the LG Optimus Exceed 2.
That would be helpful. I'm sure
I'm not the only one to take advantage of the latest BestBuy sale on the Exceed 2 for $14.
For some reason I was thinking (from an earlier post) that it was a ROM for both models of the Exceed 2. But, it at least works.

The G3 ROM was not designed to work on the VS450PP, so you will run into issues. I would venture to guess that if you go to the data folder in root browser and find the app you want to remove then delete the .apk from there, it would work. If I get time I will release a update.zip that allows the G3 ROM to work on the LG Optimus Exceed 2.

Love the G3 ROM. Just wondering if there a security setting that I need to change that lets me delete apps. The phone reboots when I attempt to uninstall any app. I'm using a $14 LG exceed 2; vs450pp.
Also, it's the first ROM I've had any luck to install correctly, BTW.
The same result on three vs450's.
I even did another factory reset and reinstall, just to make sure.
Hopefully something simple?

oops... :-X
i guess that's what I get for only skimming the part after the main "read this so you don't blow up your phone" instruction section >.>
sorry... anyways, I really like it.
if/when you get a lollipop ROM working, I'm definitely interested in that... I'm especially interested in the newer version of the smart lock feature with the location based unlock (tried an app that supposedly did the same thing.. had nothing but trouble with it)

registered just to say I DLed and flashed this ROM to my phone I got last year for Christmas, and it works and looks great. thank you for this.
only one minor issue I've experienced... when I played around with the settings, under the "display" tab the "screen mode" option is apparently bugged... when I click it, it immediately closes and says "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped." haven't noticed anything else wrong yet. I checked the brightness of the home button led, and I'm not sure if it's dimmer than yesterday or not, but the current brightness level is acceptable to me.
Did you read the notes about the tab view?

Have recently noticed wifi not turning on after deep sleep. All other features of LG G3 ROM seem perfect. I've done lots of reading and have changed numerous of the battery saving and wifi settings such as keep wifi always on, etc. Sometimes turning on airplane mode then off will allow wifi to turn on. Most times I have to reboot and wifi is automatically restarted. Does anyone have else have this problem or have any other thoughts??
Thanks,
Al

So calling and texting are shot. Maybe you should add that rom to the list. By the way I have already seen a CM 13 ROM for the Metro PCS L70 variant you might wanna download it and tinker and adapt it to our variant.

I rooted with Towelroot and love it. However this came a bit too late amd i already ordered my g3 for use with byod. Will be hiving mu phone to my brother who loves the rom. Thats cool but u have access to a computer. I dont. Is there a way for me to "access" the rom and see if i can figure things out like u did from my phone?
You can open the zip file on your phone with a file manager like root browser or the the stock lg one. And you could even make a ROM on a Windows 95 PC. I made my first ROM on Windows XP. It's much easier to work with ROMs on a PC. You can find some pretty nice cheap 9+ year old computers on eBay for under $30.

What I didn't explain about updating Google Play services is that the force stop and uninstall updates were grayed out on my phone. To possibly help others - if you try to disable, it gives the option to revert to factory version, but then if I click uninstall, I get an error saying 'can't uninstall because this package is an active device administrator'. Clicking on 'manage device administrators, I needed to unselect what was on this page. Finally I was able to revert to " stock" version. Then updated and everything worked.
Initially I had tried to update both Google play services and google play store using an apk file but this also did not work. Hope this helps others.

Hi there. New to this custom rom business. I flashed the g3 rom after trying the ultalolli rom and I like this g3 one much better. There are a few minor bugs but none that hinder performance at all and it looks great. The only bugs I have encountered is that the LED doesn't turn on when charging. Could just be my phone, idk. All other led settings work fine. Some of the settings selections force close the settings app but none of those settings are really necessary for me. And the g3 update app just shows "page not found". Not sure if any of this is fixable but i just thought I'd let you know. Props on this rom man. All the others are for high end phones so thanks for all the work you put into this
Glad you liked it!
To fix the force close settings press the menu button and select list view. It's says page not found because I have not made the page yet, been busy with the home button led and the lock screen settings.

Just downloaded laltest ROM ver 2.3 Looks GREAT!!
One question, when you hold the power button and bring up phone menu is there suppose to be options for soft boot and boot to recovery.
Thanks,
Al
You can add that with G3 tweaks box
Using latest LG G3 rom ( 2.3) I'm getting google play services has stopped error after reboot.
I have updated to latest google play services ( 8.3.00 - 876 ) and google play store 5.10.30
What else should I do???
Thanks,
Al
You need to update the play services via GPlay store.

It's at full brightness, I checked. You should flash back to stock then flash back to the G3 ROM and you will see they are the same.

Yea... It got punted when I was doing a drop kick because it fell out of my pocket.
Lol why didn't you take it out before playing?

Our coach had just brought the balls down so I punted a few out to the field while I was drinking water. Its no big deal anyway now I have a nice Lumia 512... a has 512 MB of RAM and runs about 10 times faster than the L41C... plus it was only $10.
-
That's what I was thinking. If it was me mine wouldn't be in my pocket.

Correct.

Well if I was you I would continue with lollipop cause in my opinion Marshmallow might be too strong for the ultimate 2 to handle. That's just me. Maybe a G4 rom port that is either 5.1.1 or 6.0 that might work too. I wanna hold onto my Ultimate II as long as possible. :)
I cant figure out how to get it to compile right so I cant make LP. If I can get time I will build a LP ROM for the phone, but for now I need to focus on school and the G3 ROM.

So how are you going to continue the development for the ultimate 2 now knowing you have to test them before release?
Well if nobody buys it I will continue and get the screen fixed or buy a new one. If I manage to get the money to buy a new one I will use the old one for extreme tests, like taking apart the phone and swapping the 5 MP camera for a 8 MP one from the L90, or mod the phone and add the NFC chip from the LG L70 D320N.

The lollipop rom you have on the card work or was that the one for the realm?
It doesn't work, I never said it did. I said there was a lollipop ROM on the SD Card. It will make people buy it. Ya see how smart I am lol

It will be released today or tomorrow. Been really busy with the District 2 music festival and soccer games. But I am having issues bumping the boot.img to work. Your gonna love to new update, promise.

Ok.
So I think I figured it out now. The LGSystemServer I thought was the clipboard but it turns out it controls the LED light also. Kinda odd. I should have the update ready by Monday or Tuesday.

Great Job and I really Appreciate the time you put in.... Next time I get some little extra dough I will send it your way, well Take care!!!
Awesome! That will really help out with development for the LG Sunset! I am planning to buy one in December and work on TWRP for it.
Yeah it is weird. Other than that it works fine.
I will look even more in to it. I am really puzzled now.

Sorry everyone, I have to delay this one last day. I uploaded the G3 ROM v2.2S instead of the normal 2.2. The S version is for the LG VS450PP. I am uploading the 2.2 version right now.

Ok Holding to your word. I need my home LED working again.

G3 Rom as my daily driver, i am not a huge fan of the look of the stock lg stausbar, so i used xposed, i then used gravitybox, to tweak the location of the clock and the look of the battery. I also used GB to get the custom reboot menu. I then used xstana to get the ASOP icons, and overall the rom has a good g3 feel and i like the keyboard. The user interface is smooth, the os takes less space the the previous versions as well. the camera app is good too. However one bug that really annoys me (not a big deal to most people), every time i reboot the phone the brightness jumps to 100
-
The G4 port would be based off the 5.1.1 platform wouldn't it?
Yea. So far it should.

Awsome I'll stay with the G3 rom!
Awesome! If I ever get my hands on a LG Tribute 2 you can expect a LG G4 UI port within days. The G4 UI is like 4 times better but the G3 UI is still good.

So android 5.1.1 might be on 2.2, 2.3 or 2.4 verison of the rom? If so thats cool.

Ok. Thanks for the update. I see your porting marshmallow to this rom in December I'm I right?
Yup. It might be 5.1.1 because the is no G3 UI for 6.0. LG will use the G4 UI so I should change that to LP.

No the number sticks.
Thanks. Was a big concern for me. I had the ZTE Valet(POS) and the number would not survive doing a factory reset and TF support is a nightmare. Wanted to be positive before attempting this.

Sorry if I'm going to ask a dumb question, or if this should be somewhere else. I am a complete newb when it comes to custom roms and I just discovered this site. My LG Ultimate 2 is already rooted, xposed and tweaked. I would love to try this and some of the other ROMS. My concern is that this is my daily driver phone, would I have to keep reactivating with Tracfone or does my number stick? Again, forgive the newb and thanks!
-
Hey ryan on the 2.1 verison of the rom besides what I have already said of the notification light being too dim even at 100% its not even lighting up for missed calls or waiting text messages and doesn't light up while charging. Think you could get those kinks out with 2.2?
Thanks in advance as always. :)
-
Can't wait to see it.
-
Can't wait hopefully you can make 12.1 with apps to sd support. :)
You won't get sd support until I have extra time and I can add it. I will build android marshmallow once OmniROM makes a build of it. It will be fun do build for me also :)
-

Good if you got a boot partition with the master image on it use it to make the disc needed to get into it.
I will make a partition for Ubuntu so I can build a kernel and possibly CM12.1.

Just reinstall windows 7. You should still have a boot disk for that.
I don't have the disk, but I was able to get back to 7. I was able to get into recovery mode and roll back to 7 using the revert function.

Its not for any roms for the ultimate 2. Just checked and its a sitting duck for your G3 ROM.
Oh. It's not a issue because the LG Ultimate 2 can't send or receive and MMS messages and Google has fixed the issue in Hangouts. So your safe.

No. Currently, 90 percent of Android devices have a technology called ASLR enabled, which protects users from the stagefright issue. I will need to see if that enabled or not.

Let me rephrase on number 2. There not shot as in a hood ornament but they cause the settings app to crash.
The mode you have it in is called Easy settings. It's the default settings mode on the G3. You can press the menu key them tap list view to go back to normal settings. You wont have any issues there

Also to add to what I just posted the notification LED is set to low even at 100% and it also lights up when the screen is turned on which I don't mind cause it does let me know if the screen lights up. Might wanna consider doing a 5.0.2 port of this rom. :)
I'm sure that wouldn't be a issue.
Once I get ny new laptop in the mail I will build one. That's the only reason I got it.
-
I flashed the G3 rom earlier than I wanted to it seems good so far but I found three issues one of them you may already know about Ryan.
1. Screen rotation doesn't work on the home screen
2. Some of the settings are shot. Namely the locking effects (example: retro tv, fade out)
3. No way to the task manager to stop programs.
4. Have to do button command for quickmemo.
Other than that it runs fine. I even hid the mobile hotspot thing til you can figure a way to disable it within the rom.
1. The home screen is not supposed to rotate and it never did.
2. None of the settings are shot they are all ok. You need to read the info before you install the ROM.
3. The stop all button is the clear all button.
4. Yea I know I an not sure why but I will look into it.
-

You need to update the Google Play services in the Play Store for that to go away. I am gonna try to fix that in the next version.

This ROM is amazing! It even fixed a few dislikes with this phone. One issue I found is a very minor issue though. Sometimes the status bar appears black when it should be transparent (example Google Now Launcher). A simple tap would fix it, but it's just a very minor annoyance. Again, only happens sometimes, and I'll post a screenshot if needed.
Other than that, outstanding work!

I will see if I can remove the icon in the next version.

I would consider you not putting the mobile hotspot in the rom Ryan, per terms and conditions its not allowed. I just don't wanna see bricked devices cause of it.
The hotspot doesn't work and it's purely just for show and a new icon.
I have not got caught or nothing since I had the hotspot app on my phone and it's been there forever.
Your device won't brick if because of me or TracFone. They will only charge you if you find a way to get the hotspot to work.
By installing this ROM or any ROM or recovery you have already violated the terms so there is nothing to worry about.
I have had a rooted phone for a year and nothing has happened to my service or phone.
Again, this ROM won't brick your phone.

We have reached 4000+ total downloads making this the #1 most downloaded ROM for the LG Ultimate 2! Development will be continuing after a year of nothing, expect a new version sometime in 2017!
This is a ROM for the LG Ultimate 2 based off of the stock ROM, but with a ported LG G3 interface and apps, therefore massively modernizing and improving the experience. Please be sure to read everything below so you don't make any mistakes. Also before you do anything, you need a recovery to install the ROM. Any of the recoveries on TracFone Developers will work. Also I recommend you do a full wipe before flashing this ROM. You don't have to, but it's a good idea if you previously had a heavily modified stock or a different ROM. If you had a complete stock install, you just need to wipe the cache before installing the ROM for it to boot correctly.
How to install using TWRP:
1. Download G3-ROM-Port-2.3.zip (http://www.mediafire.com/download/ekjcasfsed07wc6/G3-ROM-Port-2.3.zip) to your phone.
2. Boot into recovery from flashify by selecting the "Reboot into recovery" option from the menu.
3. In TWRP select "Backup"
4. Now select the "Storage" option and tap on MicroSD
5. Next name the backup something then press backup. And it will backup everything on your phone.
5. Once it's done press the home key and then select the "Install" option from the menu.
6. Find the zip and uncheck anything about erasing the ROM
7. After its done installing press "Wipe Cache" and then press reboot.
8. Tell me what you like or dislike about this ROM in the comments.

Notes:
When you open settings for the first time you will look around and notice that when you press specific options settings will crash. Press the menu button and tap the list view option. I tired of getting replies that say the settings doesn't work right.

Other stuff:
So in this ROM I have included a app that will let you know if I release a new version of this ROM. You will get a notification that will tell you you have a message from Software Updates. Tap on that and you will be all set. You can also check manually for updates from the G3 ROM Updates app on your homescreen. When you update to a newer version of my ROM, you will need to clear the data for "G3 ROM Updates" in the application manager. If you don't, you will get updates for your last installed version of my ROM.

And make sure to thank the @SuperR on androidforums.com for the updater-script. Without him my ROM would not be here. The updater-script is the most important part of a ROM. It allows the ROM to boot. Also please thank @edodson84 for helping me with the lge-res.apk.
