Yeah I bricked mine to just called tracfone and they are sending out a replacement. My one only worry is that they find out I tried flashing the rom and send me something. I don't know maybe I'm just paranoid
TracFone doesn't care. I have had that happen before they just sent me a new phone.

I know that you you are probably over this thread but I am in the exact same position as you were with the Ultimate 2. I was wondering, what exactly did you tell Tracfone because I want to pull it off like you did. Thanks!
You just have to make something realistic up and play along with then and just follow what they tell you to do. That will get you a free replacement ☺
Thanks for the tip! I just sent my phone back and am expecting to get a replacement in a few days. Thanks again! ;D

Just got my new phone. ;D
The flashlight doesn't work.
I'm worried about rooting this one.
I've had both an l41c and l34c rooted for a while, it's safe so long as you're not actively deleting things in the root directory.
There's a guide around to set up a custom recovery that seems to be working %100, you should root your phone and then do that immediately (and then make a backup of the stock ROM) if you feel like deleting stuff. I got a list of bloat safe to delete listed in the l34c forum, though really the 1gb RAM is more than enough.

Most phones don't brick this easily, I guess Verizon/Tracfone don't want people messing with their service so they have to lock down their phones super tight, and LG from my experience usually does things really well. The first L34C I had I bricked after removing the OTA system update apk (stupid move) and now it's impossible to get into recovery. Just bootloops endlessly.
At least it was only a $10 phone... Honestly if you're gonna mess with this make sure you have a recovery installed that you can regularly access first. Really making any small changes to stock is just asking for trouble with this phone..

I read somewhere tracfone had lg leave out all the boot options except factory reset.
I tried fastboot, and recovery mode. No luck.
I believe they can be flashed back onto the phone. Just not when its bricked.
Great phone. Tracfone just seems to lock em tight.
Only had this thing 3 weeks. First android/smartphone experience. Still learning these phones.
I now know these devices brick fairly simple.
I need to learn more about these before I brick another one.
There is a lot to learn about the phone. And even more to learn about android.

When you use the tool you got to put your phone in fastboot by holding the volume up button while inserting the usb call into it.
-
Downloaded but haven't used it.
From what I understand a recovery must have been in place for that to work.
I have contacted tracfone and they put me through the ropes.
I was finally told to charge the phone for 5 or more hours. If that doesn't
work they said my phone may be defective and can possibly receive another device. ;D
I have had my doubts about tracfone. If they hook it up with a new phone its the best service around.
I just dont see how removing "net.hostname = UrNewHostname" from build.prop
can brick a phone. I wrote it there to begin with.
The only thing i can think of is when I replaced the file the privileges changed, or build.prop is dynamic and replacing with the older copy messed up the boot sequence.

Did you also try the recovery tool that Ryan created for PCs
-
Thanks for your help.
L41c Users beware Quite simple to brick wit root.

Well that sounds good.
How do I go about doing that?
The sooner the better.
Lets brick another one. ;D
Well just call up support and tell them your phone dont work no more. Dont tell them why, just say it does not boot. Then they will walk you through hard reset and everything. Then if it still cant be fixed you will tell them you address and they will send you a packet to put your phone in, put it in that and fill out the airbill and send it off. In about 5 days you will get your new phone for free.

I haven't installed a recovery.
The only reset I have done is the factory data reset
vol- + power then click power again.
This is the only menu I can get to.
Well, your bricked. :-[
When you root you should aways install a recovery and make a backup. Never assume and think things will be fine without out one, like I did. I bricked 4 phones because of that.
But, you can get a free replacement from TracFone. :)

Its been flashing for about 15 min.
Is there a way to put another os on the phone, or reload kit kat?
Would that have to have been done before this happened?
Also I thank you for the help, and for keeping this site going.
Do you have a recovery installed? And have you hard reset it or just a normal reset?

I let it go for a few minutes. Just black screen with the home button flashing colors.
The home button flashes when the device is booting. Give it about 10 or so minutes.

Rooted with towel root about a week ago. Was running real nice and stable.
I changed the boot animation and shutdown image. Was still working fine.
I tried to change the wifi name. I modified the text file at the bottom of the system folder. Worked fine but didn't change the wifi name.
Later I couldn't log in to the wifi so I replaced the modified file with a backup trying to fix it. Well it logged back in but I believe system.su stopped running. The home bar at the top was gone but apps still worked and called out.
I restarted but now the phone wont boot. It just has black screen and the home button flashes.
Tried factory reset but that doesn't help.
Pc will charge it but not recognize it.
PLEASE HELP!
Did you give it some time to boot?
